University Management, Governing Bodies, and Administration
The University Board manages the FernUniversität and is composed of the President, the Head of Administration, and three Vice-Presidents. The President is the head of the board and also represents the university externally. The University Board is responsible for all decisions and matters affecting the university, unless they are explicitly assigned to a different authority.
Strategic Planning at the FernUniversität
With University Development Plan and its guidelines, the university board provides the FernUniversität with a binding orientation for the future. This is further extended with additional general strategies and strategic plans for specific topics, which prepare the FernUniversität to meet upcoming challenges and opportunities.
University Council

The University Council is the supervisory body of the FernUniversität. It is composed of five internal and four external members.
Senate

The duties of the FernUniversität’s Senate include confirming the University Council and selecting the members of the University Board in cooperation with the University Council.
Administration
The central university administration is responsible for planning, administration, and legal matters at the FernUniversität. An overview of the central administration’s organizational units as well as the various offices that are overseen by the President can be found at the following link.
University Electoral Committee
The University Electoral Committee is made up of members of the Senate and the University Council. The electoral committee’s central duty is to select the full-time members of the University Board.
